Community Health center Vithura is situated in Vithura Grama Panchayath, Nedumangad Thaluk, Thiruvananthapuram District, Kerala State of India. The foundation stone was laid on 18th March 1952 by Sree. R.J.A. More. Before that this facility functioned in different rental buildings at different location in the Panchayath. In the beginning this facility functioned as a center for Malaria treatment. Later this center has been upgraded as a M.C.H( Maternal and Child Health ), ever since the treatment and care for women and children have been provided from here. After that this facility was upgraded as a P.H.C having doctor service. Now This center has been functioning as a C.H.C having five doctors.The full history of this facility is not available. This facility has Inpatient convenience having 65 beds and five wards. This Health center provides services for tribal folk who belongs to very backward class of the society. Four village panchayaths including an International tourist center come under its jurisdiction. Around two lakhs of people utilize the service of this center. In addition to this the people from neighboring Panchayaths depend on this Health center. And another fifty tribal settlements and the workers from the plantation estates of Bonacard, Ponmudi and Brimoor depend on this Health center. This Community Health Center has four Primary Health Centers and 23 sub-centers. |
