Vithura CHC
Introduction
CHC Vithura is a health centre in Trivandrum District, with 65 beds spread over fine wards The Health centre provides services to the poor tribal folk residing in village panchayats, i.e., the hilly regions of that area. Four village panchayats, including an international tourist centre comes under its jurisdiction. Around 2 lakh people utilize the service of this hospital. In addition to this the people from the neighboring panchayats of Nandiyode and Palode too depend on the Health Centre. Added to this, another 50 tribal settlements and the workers in the estate in and around Bonacaud, Ponmudi and Brimoor also depends to this centre. People spreading over a total area of about 476.79 sq. km therefore depend on the service of this Health centre which has 4 Primary Health Centre and 23 sub centres. Even though the services of 3 specialty doctors are available the facilities for inpatient treatment is not sufficient to meet the rising demands.

Apart from the above facilities provided by CHC and PHCs all the above said five institution have already taken the internet facility and sending the HIMS report before 5th every month. The RSBY scheme implemented in Vithura CHC and forty two IP patients availed the facility under the scheme. The construction of new OP block in Vithura CHC under NRHM scheme is completed and it should be inaugurated in January. The proposal for the first floor in continuation of the above said completed building is submitted to NRHM and HLL authorities have already taken the estimate and submitted to NRHM.
Separate projects for palliative care are already submitted by Aryanad and Tholikode Panchayath and the training programs were already given to ASHA and ‘Kudumbasree’ volunteers in Tholikode and Aryanad Panchayaths.
House hold survey was conducted in Chayam 6th ward under Malayadi PHC on 12th and 13th of December and 30 ASHA workers were engaged for conducting the house hold survey. Around 480 houses were visited by ASHA workers and collected the information.
Vithura CHC is already selected as FRU hospital and the formalities of ISO 9002 certification is on going and the various funds under different heads from NRHM are using it quite effectively and the PIP budget for 2010-11 will be highly useful for the further expansion and development of this hospital, especially located in the hilly area surrounded by tribal settlement.

Identify the J.S.F. beneficiaries. 2. Conduct health awareness. 3. Persuade parents to bring their children to be inoculate against life threatening diseases. 4. Make them aware of the necessity of family planning and 5 also given them awareness classes on how to control diabetes, blood pressure, etc

| CHC VITHURA Community Health center Vithura is situated in Vithura Grama Panchayath, Nedumangad Thaluk, Thiruvananthapuram District, Kerala State of India. The foundation stone was laid on 18th March 1952 by Sree. R.J.A. More. Before that this facility functioned in different rental buildings at different location in the Panchayath. In the beginning this facility functioned as a center for Malaria treatment. Later this center has been upgraded as a M.C.H( Maternal and Child Health ), ever since the treatment and care for women and children have been being provided from here. After that once more this facility upgraded as a P.H.C having doctor service. Now This center has been functioning as a C.H.C having five doctors.The full history of this facility is not available. So what available has been provided here.This facility has Inpatient convenience having 65 bed and five wards. This Health center provides services for tribal folk who belongs to very backward class of the society. Four village panchayaths including an International tourist center come under its jurisdiction. Around two lakhs of people utilize the service of this facility. In addition to this the people from neighboring Panchayths depend on this Health center. And another fifty tribal settlements and the workers from the plantation estates of Bonacard, Ponmudi and Brimoor depend on this Health centre.
